  • Poland has a moderate climate characterized by relatively cold winters and warm summers. Winters become increasingly severe inland from the Baltic coast, with January temperatures averaging -1 °C (30 °F) in the north and going as low as -5 °C (23 °F) in the south-east. July temperatures range from 16.5 °C (62 °F) near the coast to 19 °C (66 °F) in the south. Rainfall varies with the altitude, from less than 500 mm a year in the lowlands to as high as 1270 mm in the southern mountains.
